How is your organization creatively moving LA forward?

Youth Speak Collective (YSC) is a creative and focused organization implementing a “for youth, by youth” philosophy. Truly built from the ground up, YSC has grown from a small core group of high school students to reaching thousands of youth throughout the Northeast San Fernando Valley.This innovative approach comes from the leadership at YSC and is fostered by the students they serve. YSC is deliberately designed to give voice, decision-making and leadership roles to students and staff who don't usually have them. Youth Speak Collective is helping move Los Angeles move forward with our collaborative results focused spirit. We believe that we must train, partner and mentor the next generation of leaders, the youth.

Why does your organization need this fundraiser event?

We hope that through this fundraising event we can see our work replicated region-wide, with the possibility of partnering with other non-profit and corporate organizations. As there are close to 40,000 nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles County YSC represents one of the few that has not only been sustainable but has shown substantial and steady growth. We hope this exposure and marketing can help bring a more youth-driven model to more non-profits!
