Las Fotos Project is a nonprofit, community-based program with a mission to bring about positive change for young Latinas facing adversity. Each year Las Fotos Project offers free participatory photography workshops serving over 200 Latina youth ages 11 to 17 living in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods throughout Southern California and several satellite locations in the United States and Latin America. Workshops include one-on-one mentoring, photography instruction and assigned field projects that are structured to stimulate and develop the students’ imagination, encourage critical thinking and refine cognitive and creative skills.
Over the past year, our generous supporters have donated their old cameras and equipment to our students in order for them to learn the fundamentals of photography and camera mechanics. Las Fotos Project seeks support to help purchase brand new cameras so our advanced studies participants can learn on modern, state of the art technology.
