Free Arts inspires hope in the lives of children who have experienced the trauma of abuse, homelessness, and chronic poverty through innovative and dynamic creative arts programs and supportive interactions with caring mentors. Each year, more than 30,000 children in Los Angeles County participate in Free Arts programs. Driven by the philosophy that Art Heals, Free Arts acts as a convener, bringing professional artists together around the shared vision of using art as a tool to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community. Last year, the children in our programs created over 100,000 pieces of art and our volunteers introduced them to more than 200 art forms, including Foley artistry, drama, photography, and dance.
Free Arts will host an all-day art festival for the more than 6,000 children in foster care in Los Angeles County. At this festival, children of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in workshops led by professional artists, and experience the thrill multicultural performances. This day will provide the children opportunities for creative hands-on self-expression, exposure to multiple art forms, and a day of lighthearted fun. The art festival will cost $15,000 to produce.
