In our 30-year history, Arts & Services for Disabled has served over 500 individuals in day programs and more than 4,000 people with disabilities annually. We have engaged over 100,000 individuals in our exhibits, events, performances, & social affairs. Our primary mission is to provide opportunities through the creative arts for people with developmental disabilities in an environment of warmth, encouragement & respect. This is a venue that promotes community inclusion as well as embraces other artists, both disabled and non-disabled, creating new opportunities and possibilities within the local art community and art world. Arts & Services for Disabled is not about charity, it is about building opportunities, creating change and community.
The lives of children with disability are largely filled with suffering, loneliness, and fear. Art has the unique ability to help children find a creative voice and discover a sense of individuality and self-efficacy in the midst of overwhelmingly difficult circumstances. With this funding we will be able to continue expansing of our Accessible Arts Workshops, which currently reaches 2,500 to 3,000 people annually in the neediest districts of LA.
