Peace Over Violence is Southern California’s first domestic violence and sexual assault crisis agency. In 1991, we expanded our programs to work with youth in preventing relationship violence through our In Touch With Teens curriculum and leadership activities that we offer at our offices and at LAUSD middle and high school campuses. Focused on boys and girls ages 12-19, the program enables youth to demonstrate a resistance to relationship violence, including rape, dating violence, and domestic abuse. Through a program of directed activities based on our curriculum, participants gain awareness and knowledge, and learn skills and tools that empower them to have healthy relationships and be a powerful voice in the movement to end violence.
Each Summer, our Youth Over Violence Institute brings together 25 youth from LA to deepen their knowledge in violence prevention through 2 weeks of training on understanding domestic & sexual violence and 2 weeks of paid internships (creating phone apps for violence prevention; writing, performing & recording songs for violence prevention; developing community and online organizing campaigns for healthy relationships). We need your support to cover food costs & stipends for LA’s Youth leaders!
