Community Coalition is focused on turning around our innercity schools – transforming them from “drop-out factories” to community institutions that create pathways to college, careers and better futures. We empower students and parents to be at the forefront of this change, leading campaigns that result in widespread and impactful reforms. We equip community leaders with the skills to build a stronger South Los Angeles. We have won historic policy victories, such as our campaign to bring college-prep classes to all students. Currently we are making changes at Fremont High, a local school with a drop-out rate over 60% for the past decade. Students and parents are stepping up to create change and more opportunities for their community.
In 2010, Community Coalition youth leaders came together to turn-around a local school, Fremont High. In the two years since, we have made remarkable progress. The class of 2012 set a record with 750 seniors walking the stage – 200 more than the class of 2010 and the largest number of graduates in school history!
With your support we can build upon these successes. We can continue our reform efforts at Fremont High, and we can bring needed change to other schools in innercity Los Angeles!
